What Do I Do After Everything Is Planted?

What Do I Do Now?
So you've done it.
You've been to the nursery a dozen times. You've bought the plants, hauled the soil, dug the holes, and spent more weekends outside than you probably planned on. Everything is planted, everything is looking pretty good, and your friends and neighbors have all told you how great it looks.
Now you're standing there thinking:
"What do I do now?"
Honestly, not much.
Water it.
Take care of it.
Enjoy it.
That's really the next stage.
The exciting part is over. The shopping is done. The planting is done. Now it's about keeping everything healthy and giving it a chance to settle in and grow.
Make sure you have a plan for watering, especially when summer starts heating up. If you're taking a long weekend or heading out on vacation, think about that now instead of the night before you leave. Whether it's a sprinkler timer, a helpful neighbor, or a family member stopping by, having a plan can save a lot of headaches.
Beyond that, just keep an eye on things. Pull a few weeds here and there. Trim something back if it needs it. Give new plants a little extra attention while they're getting established.
But here's the part people sometimes forget.
You're allowed to just enjoy it.
Not every trip to the nursery has to end with a full cart.
In fact, this might be the perfect time to stop by and simply walk around. Look at what's growing. See what's blooming. Get a few ideas for someday. Enjoy being there without feeling like you need to buy anything.
Go visit a friend or family member and check out what they've planted. Gardeners have been doing that forever. Half the fun is seeing what other people are growing and swapping stories about what worked, what didn't, and what surprised you.
And maybe, just maybe, take a few quiet minutes for yourself.
Sit outside with a cup of coffee in the morning. Walk through the yard after dinner. Look at all the things that were just ideas a few months ago.
You'll probably start thinking about next year. Most gardeners do. You'll notice a spot where you might want another plant. You'll think about moving something. You'll come up with a dozen new ideas.
That's fine.
Just don't rush into the next project yet.
For now, take a look around and enjoy what you've created.
You put in the work.
You spent the time.
You earned the view.
